Storage advice

Legumes are not only tasty and nutritious, but also have a long shelf life — provided you store them correctly. With good storage advice, beans, lentils, and peas will best retain their flavor and nutritional value.

Dried legumes

Dried legumes, such as kidney beans, pinto beans, and lentils, are best stored in a cool, dry, and dark place. A pantry or kitchen cupboard is ideal, as long as the temperature remains stable and the packaging is well sealed. Preferably, store them in an airtight jar or container to keep out moisture and insects. This way, they will keep for up to one to two years.
